FROM YOUR PASTOR...
In Ephesians 4:11-12 we read that every
believer is given spiritual gifts for the purpose of building up
God’s church. Therefore, it is God’s intention we use these gifts.
In this congregation we take this very seriously --at the top
of our Worship Bulletin we read these words, “Pastor -- Dr. Wes
Morgan – Ministers -- Every member of this congregation.” This is
the design for us as a congregation. We believe that every one has
a ministry (or ministries) to do. We also believe that God gives us
the gifts we need to do our ministries.
We have reorganized ourselves as a Congregation
so we can be more focused as a “ministry-based” Church. Presently,
we have identified over 190 Ministry Opportunities. In the near
future you will receive a copy of all of our Ministry
Opportunities. Please mark the ones you would like to do next
year. You may want to continue the ones you’ve been doing – that’s
great! You may want to add some other ministries – that’s great!
You may want to begin some new ministries – that’s great! As you
can tell – it will all be great because we know that God’s great and
Holy Spirit is the source and inspiration of all that we do. You
may check as many ministries as you like; AND, it would be very
helpful if you would identify your top three choices using “1, 2 and
3”.
In closing I want to share a recent experience
with you. One of our newer members came to me and said, “Wes, I
never realized that church could be so much fun. I’ve belonged to
several churches, and they were OK, but I never felt like I did
anything but go to meetings. They had committees for everything.
Here, I don’t go to meetings – I do ministry. I’m doing the things
that I think God wants me to do. When I went to the Spiritual Gifts
training, I got a whole new picture of the church and myself. For
the first time in my Christian life, I feel like I’m doing God’s
work. This is the best time of my life!” I have had many people,
both long-time members and new members, say almost the same thing to
me – AND I share your excitement about being a part of a church that
invites us to do God’s work – AND let’s us do it!
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday so we
can think together about our gifts and ministries.
Love & Blessings,
Wes
